The 2024 Bill Starkie Award was awarded to Terry Bonini. Terry has improved his game a great deal over the last few years and is a great friend and competitor.

Terry, why did you choose Wintonbury Hills GC as your home course?

I choose Wintonbury as my home course due to the layout of the golf course, the condition of the greens, the friendly course staff, and its proximity to my home.

When did you join the Wintonbury Men’s Golf Association (WMGA)?

I joined the WMGA in 2021.

For you, what makes the WMGA experience special?

WMGA is special to me because of the wonderful, thoughtful, and caring WMGA members who look out for each other and always treat each other with the utmost respect.

What events do you look forward to the most?

The Ryder Cup, the President’s Cup, and the Interclub matches have been the highlights for me. 

What does it mean to you to be the Bill Starkie Award winner for 2023?

Winning the 2024 Starkie award was a total surprise as being nominated and voted on by the members and board is a very special feeling. Bill Starkie is just a caring individual who looks out for the members of our club. I will try my best to carry on the characteristics of Bill Starkie and continue to make the WMGA better.

Who completes your dream foursome, and where are you playing?

My dream foursome would be to play Augusta National, home of The Masters, with my son, brother, and Mike (“Heff”) Heffernan.
